Federal Pell Grants
The Federal Pell Grant is free grant money that does

your EFC, theCost of Attendance at Chabot College, your enrollment status (i.e.
half-time, three-quarter time, or full-time), and whether you attend for part or
all of the academic year.
Federal Pell Grants are targeted to students with very high need. Even
if you do not qualify for a Pell Grant, you may be eligible for other forms
of financial aid.
Federal Academic Competitiveness Grant

awards can be made.
Cal Grant A, B, and C
These grants are available to California residents
who apply by March 2nd for the next school year. The funding is limited. In
addition to filing a FAFSA, a separate application may be required.
The three
types of Cal Grants (A, B, or C) relate to what type of program you will be
enrolled in at Chabot College. Download a Cal
Grant Brochure.
If you missed the March 2nd filing deadline, you may still qualify by meeting a September 2 competative Cal Grant deadline
for California Community College students only. Come to the Financial
Aid Office now for more information.
EOPS (Extended Opportunity Programs and Services) is available to
California residents who have a high-need and whose educational and
socio-economic backgrounds might otherwise prevent them from successfully
attending and succeeding in college.
Services
include grants, childcare payment, and other support services.
A separate
application to the EOPS office is required along with completing the FAFSA.
Please contact EOPS directly at (510)723-6909, or visit the EOPS website
for more details.
Chafee Grant

youth to help pay for college or career or technical training that you don’t
have to pay back. You may also be able to use your grant to pay for child
care, transportation and rent while you’re in school. The Chafee Grant is
federally and state funded and each year is subject to availability of

Federal Work-Study (FWS)
This program provides those students with
financial need part-time work to assist in meeting educational costs.
The amount
of a FWS award depends on your financial need, the amount of other aid you
receive, and the availability of funds at Chabot College. Pay rates vary but
will never be less than the current minimum wage.
Those who apply early have a better chance at receiving an award.
